What is a Prescription Drug Savings or Discount Card ?
Prescription drug discount cards (also known as "consumer cards," "point of sale cards," and "100% co-pay" cards), allow prescription drug users to save money on all prescription medications. At the time of purchase, members simply present their card at a participating pharmacy to instantly receive substantial discounts on their prescription drugs. It's that easy.
How Do Prescription Drug Savings Cards Work ?
Prescription Drug Savings cards contain special computerized instructions that can be read by the pharmacy's computer, similar to an ATM card. When the card information is entered, the price on the prescription is discounted based on the pharmacy's agreements. This type of cutting-edge technology allows consumers to save money without encountering any hassles on the checkout line.
How much does this program cost me ?
Your card is 100% free; we provide this service to all individuals and families that wish to save on their prescription, labs and imaging service costs.
I am not a U.S. Citizen, can I use the card ?
EVERYONE may use the program if it is used at pharmacies within the U.S., or the drugs are purchased through our US mail order program.
I already have insurance or Medicare that covers my prescription drugs. How can this Prescription Drug Discount Card benefit me ?
This program can be used to obtain savings on prescription drugs that are excluded by your insurance plan or are not covered because you have exceeded your insurance plan's maximum limits. In some instances, you might find that the Prescription Savings price is lower than your insurance plan's co-payment amount. (For instance, if your insurance plan generic co-payment is $30.00 and your generic medication through this Prescription Savings program is $18.00, you would use this card instead of your insurance card. Please keep in mind you can not use your insurance card and this card at the same time. You need to choose one or the other when you leave your prescription at the pharmacy.) In addition, if your plan does not offer you a drug card and you are reimbursed after each transaction, you may be able to use the card to lower your out-of-pocket expenses.
Where to Use this Prescription Plan ?
Your card is valid at thousands of locations nationwide. All chain pharmacies and most independent pharmacies have been given equal opportunity to serve you through our program. Additional pharmacies are constantly being recruited, and our pharmacy directory is continually updated.
After you activate your certificate you will have access to search for participating pharmacies in your immediate area.
Which pharmacies can I go to ?
After you activate your certificate you will have access to search for participating pharmacies in your immediate area.
Where can I find out the approximate cost of the prescription drugs ?
After you activate your certificate you will have access to search for approximate costs/discounts of specific prescription drugs.
Once I print my card how do I use it ?
Once your card is created you simply print out the card page and bring the card with you to the pharmacy. Once at the pharmacy please present them with the printed card. The card has your identification number along with all of the required pharmacy numbers. Your pharmacy will input your information into the computer where your permanent records will be kept. Once the information has been stored by your pharmacy you no longer need the card because your records are in the computer. Each time you return to the pharmacy you will get the plan's appropriate discount. Store your card/printed page in a safe place or come back later and print another card if you go to a new pharmacy. You are required to pay the pharmacy in full for your discounted price.
What if I change pharmacies ?
When ever you change pharmacies or go to different pharmacy your new pharmacy must put your information in the computer. You have two options.
Option 1: The card you previously created should be stored in a safe place. Bring the card with you to the pharmacy. Once at the pharmacy please present them with this card. The card has the identification number along with all of the required pharmacy numbers. Your pharmacy will input your information into the computer where your permanent records will be kept. Once the information has been stored by your pharmacy you no longer need the card because your records are in the computer. Each time you return to the pharmacy you will get the plan's appropriate discount. Store your card in a safe place.
Option 2: Go back to our website and create a new card. If you have lost your card just create a new one. If you're traveling have the pharmacy go online and create a new card. You are never alone or without the ability to get your card and discount.
Who Needs a Prescription Drug Discount Card ?
Anyone with limited or no prescription drug coverage can benefit from a prescription drug savings card. Instead of paying full price for medication, card members can save money whenever they purchase prescription drugs. People who already have insurance coverage may still find the card useful, as it can discount medications that are not covered by their health plan.
The prescription drug savings card can also be especially useful to seniors enrolled in Medicare; It has been estimated that as many as 38% of Medicare recipients lack prescription drug coverage.
What if my Pharmacy does not participate ?
If your pharmacy is not participating in this plan, but would like to enroll in our network, we cordially invite their participation. To enroll, simply have the pharmacist call the pharmacy help desk number provided on the back of your card.
What Kind of Savings Are We Talking About ?
Substantial discounts on all brand-name and generic drugs. How substantial? Discounts vary and can range anywhere from 0%-75% depending on the type of prescription, brand name, generic name and the location of the specific pharmacy. These savings increase even more when members utilize our mail-order pharmacy.
What prescription medications are covered under the this Discount Prescription Plan ?
All FDA approved brand and generic prescription medications are covered.
Are there any age or enrollment restrictions ?
No, everyone can enroll and benefit from the plan.
Does my doctor need to know about this card when writing my prescription ?
No. This program will not affect the way you are cared for by your physician. You should, however, always consult with your doctor about saving money on prescription medications. You should tell your Doctor about the program so he can help his other patients that do not have insurance!
What does receiving the "lowest" or "best" price on my prescriptions mean ?
It means that a participating pharmacy will give you their lowest (or best) price available at their pharmacy. In 90% of transactions, that price will be significantly lower than any retail or sale price you would receive without the card. If a brand name or generic drug is available through your participating pharmacy at a lower price than the discounted price, you will pay only the lower of the two prices.
Why don't all pharmacies accept the card ?
All chain pharmacies and most independent pharmacies have been given equal opportunity to serve you with this program. Pharmacies are required to offer very deep discounts and assist in performing some fairly complicated drug management procedures on behalf of our card holders, and some pharmacies simply refuse. However, that allows you the confidence of knowing that pharmacies participating have your best interests in mind.
What if my pharmacist said the card would not save me any money ?
As a Prescription Drug Discount Card member, you are entitled to your benefit. Your pharmacist will not know what the card savings will be until the prescription is sent for pricing via the pharmacist's computer. Please report this abuse to our Pharmacy Help Desk
